Honesty + Empathy - Self-Righteousness = Authenticity

Mike Robbins shared a similar equation to this with us at a Leadership summit in Ojai, California a few years back. I often use this when working with Executive Teams. So often we have over trained the part of our brain responsible for judgement and decision-making, we have honed our skills at proving a point and convincing people that our point of view is the right one. At the cost of empathy and true authenticity.

Remembering this equation and reviewing how you can bring this approach to your next difficult conversation or conflict, can really help in finding that ability to be assertive and authentic.
